how can someone look me in the eye and tell me oswald doesnt have bpd guys pleaswe this shouldnt even be up for discussion....

i have bpd and ive never related to a character more, especially this scene

the ranting, taking everything personally (despite the context of the scene being a pretty obvious personal thing), the anger, spilling something and ed having to tell him to breathe (which, also implies this happens a lot, especially with ed's slightly annoyed tone).

in many other scenes, ESPECIALLY ones with isabella, it clearly shows him displaying traits of bpd and time n time again i see "hes crazy" or "hes a sociopath" (which makes no sense and is just ableist)

hes someone with likely multiple complex mental disorders, but bpd especially sticks out to me bc of how obvious his case is

like i was sitting there watching the isabella dilemma thinking "man hes so me" bc he was splitting just as violently as i do

and as someone with multiple complex mental disorders, i fantasize about killing people i split on too (he actually does it, i dont, but i understand it). ive had homicidal thoughts (not urges, thoughts, clear distinction guys im not gonna murder someone) about the people ive split on, ive thought about the things oswald does, though not as cartoony as some of his, considering theyre in a fictional universe.

i fully belive edward was not oswalds first fp either, his mom to me is the first who comes to mind as his attachment figure, the only person he can rely on, his favorite person but also in a way his only person. she gave him love, gave him care, gave him all he needed to survive, and oswald clung onto it.

edward gave him "love", attention, care, and after oswalds mom had been gone, he needed that. so he needed edward. boom, fp moment

we constantly see how emotionally invested oswald is in ed, how much he cares for him, how much edwards words control his emotions, and we see how he once again, violently splits on someone, but for the first time, its on the one he "replaced" his mom with.

i wqont even lie i might be lowkey headcanoning some of this maybe or making shit up cause i havent watched gotham in a long time but oswald so clearly struggles with emotional regulation and anger. its 0-100, its black and white, its night and day, he is always overcome by his emotions. the way he yells and rants with ed in the scene i shared, the way he felt learning mr penn had betrayed him, the way he felt when his mom died, the way he felt about edward, or even isabella, is so clearly the way someone w bpd, such as myself, would react.

Mike's body seems spring-loaded almost, bouncing in place, his anxiety almost as clear as the fact that he's planning something even after this reveal. Lips quirking, Will entertains the idea of stopping the bouncing given Mike's proclivity to joint pain, but it almost concerns him how Mike might be unable to let go of that energy otherwise. Either way, the almost... puppy-like energy he's giving is as endearing now at 40 as it ever has been.

The room around them is softly lit, fairy lights strung up illuminating the cream walls and the bed their little picnic is spread over, rose petals scattered because Mike could never pass up a chance at being dramatic- no matter how much he called it just romantic, it really is both.

Will can't help the giddiness he feels in his own chest, cheeks warm as he looks over everything.

When Mike had told him about his picnic idea, he hadn't been against it, and seeing it now... it's breathtaking, the amount of work even just in the food made him feel special, not that Mike Wheeler grinning beside him with tinted cheeks even knew how to half-ass anything, especially concerning the both of them and their relationship.

He entertains the thought of teasing Mike for all of this for only half a second, but he decides not to, turning his head to look at him, Mike tilting his head as if to non-verbally ask his thoughts. Will smiles, a bit embarrassed, but certainly flustered.

"It's... amazing, Mike, I love it," he praises, giggling as Mike grabs his hand, pulling him over to the bed, giving Will a better look at all the things on the blanket, a new one it looks like.

There were small sandwiches, varied meats and cheeses on them and even ones with peanut butter and jelly, Will glancing up at him with an amused look as he stutters out his explanation for everything.

"I just kind of picked what we both like the most, I know you still like peanut butter and jelly even if you think it's childish and never eat it unless you're alone. The, uh, pretzels I made myself by melting chocolate with this tutorial I found online and strawberries are basically super romantic, so I had to add those and-" he rambles before getting cut off.

"Mike," Will interrupts, feeling terribly fond of the man in front of him, then pulls him in, melting into a kiss that they extend way further than is any kind of appropriate otherwise. Pulling away, Will smiles looking up at him, hand moving to hold his face, soft as he looks at Mike's own lovesick expression. "Thank you."

Mike grins wider, a giggle bursting from both of them as they put their foreheads together.

"I do have one surprise, though," Mike murmurs, his hands moving down Will's sides to rest on his waist. "You'd have to close your eyes."

Will feels a shiver go down his spine. "Really?"

"Mhm. Trust me?"

Will pulls back. "As if I couldn't," he teases, but steps back, closing his eyes, laughing as Mike guides his hands over them. "Mike! Just do what you're about to do."

"Okay! Okay. Just... don't make fun of me, alright?"

Will snorts. "That's just asking me to," he teases. "But I won't."

He can hear the sound of rummaging around, drawers being opened and some muttering before he hears the springs of the bed dip, Mike giving him the okay. Now seeing again, a loud gasp tears from his throat, tears immediately welling up in the corners of his eyes.

Understandably, Mike hadn't been able to get on a knee, but he'd sat on on the edge of the bed, a box in his hands, open, offering it and the thin band inside. His eyebrows are raised, hopeful, a shy smile like Will hasn't seen in a while there, too. "I, uh, I'm sure you've read the news lately."

Will had.

New York had recently legalized gay marriage only days ago.

With that, Will bursts into happy tears, Mike visibly panicking as he rushes forward. Wiping his eyes, Will reassures him. "I'm okay! I'm okay, I just... never imagined this was something we'd get," he explains, voice wobbly. Arms wrap around him. "I love this and I love you and it's a definite yes, oh my god..."

The arms squeeze tighter around him, Mike's own voice sounding emotional. "God, I love you, too, Will, and even if we couldn't I'd spend the rest of my life with you," he says, sending Will back to tears. "You're never getting away from me again. Not ever. You go, I go."

The engagement band sits perfectly on his finger.

Rejects of Skin Horse: Where Are They Now?

That night was only Lee’s second time out after top surgery. He loved how his new clothes fit him until Baz’s insult brought the old imposter syndrome rushing back. He almost left the club. But Lee’s night turned around when he met a cute guy who laughed at Lee’s jokes, asked Lee to give him stubble rash, and ate Lee out in the toilets. (It was Niall.) 

Mustached Blond with the Wedding Band Tan had just moved into his own flat after a ten-year marriage to his best friend. He’d been anguished over “breaking up his family over nothing”--thanks for that, Blond’s mum--but the kids were blossoming with happier parents. His ex had cheerled his coming out and savaged anyone who asked how Blond could be gay when he’d never been with a man. 

At Skin Horse Blond had assumed the tall, gorgeous man in the embroidered shirt was in his mid twenties--he was so poised--and more experienced than Blond, because everyone was. After Baz’s rejection, City Boy danced with Blond and slipped him the tongue. That first queer kiss did so little for Blond that he wondered if his mother was right and almost broke down right there. But then The Husbands took Blond home, found his prostate, and let him sleep in the middle.

City Boy was from the future, on a mission to terminate the boy who would one day lead the uprising against gay cyborgs like City Boy. He didn’t expect to find his target at Skin Horse, but everybody needs a night off.

why i think harvey specter and louis litt are bpd coded (to an extent)

this is just harmless headcanon based on what i noticed while watching, don’t take me too seriously. i’m pretty sure aaron korsh has never even heard of bpd and no one in that writers room knew enough about psychology to actually write a borderline character…

i could make a way more in depth analysis of their mental… situations… but i haven’t rewatched the show in a while so these are just my most basic observations

aside from his uh.. obvious emotional instability and anger issues. i think the most tangible proof i have of this one is when he was described as “loving, hating, and wanting to be harvey at the same time.” now, i’m pretty sure that was just a movie quote… but Very Telling imho…

also the way all his romantic relationships play out in the show (TARA!!!!)… idk y’all… that tara thing was textbook limerence in my eyes.

side note, i’ve seen people call him bipolar quite a bit but i’m pretty sure most of that is just the colloquial (see: wildly incorrect) usage/misunderstanding of the term and not actual concrete evidence of any bipolar theories.

this one is a little less obvious, so bear with me. but i think the way he started having panic attacks so severe he had to see a therapist (!!!) because donna went to work for someone else at the same damn firm… i’m sorry but the abandonment issues are wild. also the scene when he sees lipschitz one on one and he’s basically complaining that everyone leaves him and louis is gonna forget about him once he has a baby…? which uh, has he ever met louis before? also, that scene gets extra funny when the writers had him and donna leave for seattle like the day after lucy was born… who’s leaving who now?

also, his anger issues got pretty bad too… and his whole “i don’t care about anyone, caring makes me weak” shtick from the earlier seasons isn’t necessarily giving mental illness, but it certainly doesn’t paint a picture of perfect mental stability… i mean, he does change throughout the show (see: the whole situation with anna) but i’d argue that was directly a result of mike’s presence in his life.

ACTUALLY, DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT ONE. SECRETLY KEEPING MIKE AND RACHEL’S OLD APARTMENT JUST IN CASE THEY MIGHT COME BACK??? but that deserves a whole separate post bc that’s not related to bpd… just homosexuality.

there’s honestly way more than that, but i’d have to rewatch the whole damn show and take notes to properly make an analysis, which i am not currently willing to do.

Also in my mind mike is slightly autistic coded (strong sense of justice, eidetic memory, hyperempathy (actually just normal empathy tbh but he just looks really emotional compared to Harvey “I Don’t Get Attached To Clients, I Win” Specter)) but that’s not an actual theory i have nor is it at all supported by canon, pure projection by me on that one.

Uhhh again don’t take this too seriously, this is just my brain ramblings. i just thought bpd coded suits deserves more love than 4 unknown reddit comments (one of them being me), 1 tumblr post from half a decade ago, and 1 paragraph in a “tv series that portray bpd” article… i was seriously spoiled in my previous fandoms with the mental disorder hcs (see: adhd denki, bpd goro, autistic izuku/shoto/bkg/ren/saiki/everyone hcs being wildly popular).

also, this is in no way meant to be insulting/demeaning to any characters mentioned, just to share an alternative perspective/interpretation, i’m literally the ceo of borderpolartism… (and made up words!) feel free to disagree as heavily as you’d like, this is nothing but my own personal opinion.

Uhhh, i also have no formal education in psychology, just years of lived experience w bpd/autism and their dsm-5 criteria memorized… (Not that the dsm-5 is great in itself, that book is wildly problematic all on its own, but that’s a subject more fitting for a formal research paper and not a tumblr post made by a generally uneducated moron who only finished school up to the 9th grade…)

one day i’ll write up a proper analysis/explanation/character study, but for now this is the best you’re getting outside of the mildly implied but never explicitly stated autistic mike ross WIPs rotting in my notes app rn, never to be finished.

I suddenly have a shit ton of bpd Mike Wheeler on my dash when I never had it before but I'm not complaining

some cclingyduo and byler hcs and similarities i think exist:

- mike and ctommy both bite at their nails and fingers a lot, often leaving them bloody, will and ctubbo occasionally often them bandaids or try to get them to do something else w their hands w out outright saying it as to not annoy the other

- when the respective pairs fight it’s usually escalates quickly into big and loud arguments that leaves in one storming off, but by the next day or two they’re back to being attached at the hip

- mike and ctommy follow their respective other around, a lot, no matter what the other is doing you can find mike or ctommy within a 1 ft radius of them— they aren’t called clingyduo w out a reason

- will considers mike the heart of the party, but mike considered will the heart of the party (same for cclingyduo)

- will and ctubbo fall into flashbacks a lot and mike and ctommy have gotten good at recognizing the tells of these attacks and how to break their respective other out of them

- being warm and in the sun helps ground will and ctubbo, and because of this they both enjoy working outside, like in gardens, etc. because of this they both get tan easily

- ctommy and mike both have bpd

- will can fall into intense periods of fixation while working on art— as does tubbo when working on inventions— and mike and ctommy as the only ones who can successfully pull their respective others out of this fixation

- will and ctubbo are big music buffs and have very specific tastes, and mike and ctommy will listen to pretty much whatever

- will and ctubbo have hard times falling asleep, but when asleep they sleep like rocks, mike and ctommy easily fall asleep, but are easily woken, all of them have nightmares however

y'know when I think about mike having BPD, I think about the fact that when he met micky, he didn't really have a Favorite Person but still had no sense of identity whatsoever, so I think in a way it was almost a relief for him because he was a blank canvas for micky to imprint onto him.

obviously that went south very quickly cuz mike also has rejection sensitivity dysphoria so bad that one wrong look or an out of character reply could destroy him for weeks and he'd split super easily. I think it took him a long time to stabilize honestly. and around the 70s his bpd obviously didn't go away, but it became a bit more silent but he was absolutely still suffering from it and every now and then it reared its ugly head for everyone else to see, which unfortunately made him appear crazy and jealous and possessive at times

by the 80s I think his bpd is pretty settled down, but kinda operates in the background and can still be triggered at times, but by the 80s he's able to cope better and clearly has a much more healthy relationship with micky and the others. I think his relationship with them began improving around the mid 70s but the 60s were a total shit show for everyone unfortunately. mike was like a tamagatchi if u didn't check in on him he'd die
